UNIMEDICS ESSENTIALS

We Solved a Clinical Need

device

Unimedics was started in response to clinical needs. Physicians working with data rich medical applications constantly asked us why it is necessary to meet face-to-face to jointly plan patient treatment. Collaborating clinicians want to work in real-time with patient data regardless of where their colleagues are located - on another floor or at another site. The Blix technology was developed to meet this pervasive challenge. The initial release of the product provides collaboration with DICOM images but the Blix capabilities work for all data types.  It also supports real-time data streaming such as EKG. Future modules will bring this functionality to clinical use.

We are a Medical Device Company

device

Many digital healthcare companies claim to be transforming healthcare. The Unimedics team has decades of experience developing and supporting medical devices for clinical use. We understand the real-world challenges of working in a clinical environment. Our team has developed products for image guided surgery, radiation treatment planning and delivery, and other clincial fields such as neurology. We have developed products with life-critical functionality. We have extensive experience in acquiring, processing and visualizing medical data - both medical images and biomedical signals. We are experts in systems that require coupling between hardware and software. The efficacy and performance of our products follows from this deep domain experience.

We Know How to Navigate the Regulatory Environment

FDA

Developing products for patient diagnosis and treatment requires that companies work within the FDA regualatory framework. Many digital healthcare companies lack the experience or wherewithal to work in a regulated environment. Their products are limited to non-clinical uses such as record keeping and data transfer. The Unimedics team has over 40 FDA and numerous world-wide clearances under their belt. The submissions range from disposables to system level products comprised electrical, mechanical and software components. We are especially experienced at developing and maintaining software within the Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) required by the FDA.

Communication with the FDA indicates that Blix with the DICOM image viewer is a Class I medical device. We will continue to make appropriate submissions to the FDA as Blix functionality is expanded.

We Know How to Collaborate

device

We understand the collaborative process between clinicians and companies in advancing clinical care. We have developed products collaboratively at both large research and small regional hosptials. It is important to balance technological advances with product complexity, cost, and clinical practicality in formulating solutions that improve care. We have worked with clinicians at all steps of the development process from product concept to technology assessment to pre-release testing.

Developing a total clinical solution often entails interfacing with products from other companies. We have direct collaboration experience with organizations of all sizes. We are especially interested in expanding the indications for Blix to other clinical data and interfacing directly with data acquisition systems. If you are a clinician or at another company that  wishes to collaborate with Unimedics on clinical collaboration please contact us.
